UK-based artist Olivia Kemp (@LivvyKemp) uses predominantly pen for her incredibly detailed art.

If you enjoyed the mind-bending 3-D optical illusions made by this Japanese artist, you'll be stunned by the gloriously detailed drawings of UK-based artist Olivia Kemp.

Kemp's artwork, which consists largely of black-and-white, elaborate renditions of expansive landscapes, has gone viral because of its mesmerizing attention to detail.

But there's another reason her drawings have thoroughly captured the Internet's attention: she does all of her work almost entirely with nothing but a pen.

You have to figure she buys them in bulk.

#Repost from @royaldrawingschool with @regram.app … Prince and Patron opens at Buckingham Palace this Saturday 21st July. The special exhibition marks the 70th birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales, and features drawings by six Royal Drawing School alumni. We are featuring them all here on Instagram over the next few days! Olivia Kemp, The Where That Was, (180 x 115cm) @livvykemp The Where That Was, was commissioned as the centrepiece for a recent solo exhibition in Guernsey. The drawing is the culmination of my time spent on the island and it was completed back in my London studio. I spent a month making drawings whilst Artist in Residence on Guernsey and used this research to inform this final work. The imagined island uses motifs and places I came across whilst working there and talking to local people. It tries to bring together the architecture, plants and landscape that felt particular to Guernsey. Hidden symbols, sections and familiar places are scattered through the drawing like breadcrumbs for those who know the island well. #drawing #princeandpatron @royal_collection_trust #guernsey #penandink #pendrawing #linedrawing #contemporarydrawing @clarencehouse #buckinghampalace

Her large-scale drawings often consist of country scenes featuring stately palaces and lush gardens. Every brick on the building and needle on the cactus is carved in with care.

"I draw in order to make sense of landscape but also to construct and re model it," Kemp wrote in the artist's statement on her website. "I build worlds and imaginary places that grow out of a need to interpret the sites that I have known, expanding and developing them across a page. This encompasses everything, from the visions of a grand landscape right down to the details of the land, the plants and creatures that may inhabit it. "

. This HALF of the drawing is finished! Time to finish the other side. You know you're getting there when you start thinking about a title… . . #lefthandersday
