The 2020 UEFA European Championship ended in anguish for English fans, and that included one very small, very famous fan. Prince George attended the Euro championship with his parents, Prince William and Duchess Catherine, after previously attending a game earlier on in the series. While Prince George was no doubt sad to see England lose to Italy, it looked like he had a fun time throughout the game, and royal watchers worldwide got a see a glimpse of the prince, all dressed up and taking in the match.
Read on to see George at what ended up being a lengthy and stressful game, and to find out more about his family's connection to English soccer.

Prince George took in the game with his parents.
During the broadcast of the Euro championship, Prince George and his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were shown on screen briefly as they watched. In this photo, William points something out to his seven-year-old son.
George was disappointed just like any other U.K. fan.
At some points, George looked sad about how the game was progressing. Clearly, he was disappointed to see his home team not take home the win. Here, his mom comforts him as he looks on.
It wasn't George's first Euro 2020 game.
The final match was George's second time attending one of the games this year. On June 29, George, William, and Kate watched England win against Germany. A source told Britain's OK! magazine (via the Daily Mail) that George "begged" his parents to let him attend the England vs. Germany game, because he is such a big soccer fan. Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told the magazine, "George idolizes his dad. That's why we saw him looking so smart in his suit—he really wanted to dress like William."
Naturally, the photos of the prince from this game are more joyous.

Other famous faces were in attendance as well.
At the championship, the Royal Family members had seats nearby U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie Johnson, and UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin. And at the Germany game, they were sitting near David Beckham, Ed Sheeran, and Sheeran's wife Cherry Seaborn.
William shared a message after the loss.
William is the president of the Football Association, which oversees all of English soccer. It's a figurehead position, and it has been held by a member of the royal family since 1939. William has been the FA president since 2006. While he is not in charge of the FA operations, he does always show his support for the English teams. In a post on Instagram, William congratulated the Italian team, Azzurri, and shared a message of support for the English players.
"Heartbreaking. Congratulations @Azzurri on a great victory," he wrote. "@England, you've all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn't our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves — I know there's more to come. W."
He also spoke out about racism aimed at Black players on the English team following the game. "I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night's match," William wrote on Twitter. "It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behaviour. It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable. W."
